Fun and excitement in summer

Considered to be the hottest months of the year, summertime is when the days are longer and the nights are shorter. The beginning of the season depends on the culture and climate of the country. This is when students are out on vacation and enjoy the warm weather. It is a time to bathe in the sun and enjoy the cool waters of the sea. Summer is a time to treat yourself and your home as well.

Summer is also the time when many individuals spend more time outdoors to enjoy various activities that they never did during the other months of the year. Kids engage in sports and recreation activities like skateboarding, surfing, tennis, football, and swimming. Because of this, indoor activities like TV watching decrease.

This is when the tourism industry is at its peak due to travelers and guests. Students also venture to work in restaurants, sales and marketing, and IT industries. These are just some wonderful things you can do for a fun and exciting summer vacation.

Summer decorating ideas that you can try

Adding summer-inspired decor is one of the smart ways to make your home look fun and interesting. Here are some ideas and inspirations that you can do to your homes:

  • Minimalist design—sleek, clutter-free interiors are the highlights of Scandinavian design. The style can be used in any room, creating a roomy and comfortable vibe.
  • Green – the color can give a refreshing look and a rejuvenating feel. Using shades of green can also add a touch of nature to your rooms.

  • Mixed prints: Add warm splashes of color, such as red and orange, to your homes. These colors are perfect for bringing the summer vibe to your room’s interior and will also make your home vibrant and exciting.
  • Outdoor lights: Add string lights to the backyard or to the balcony. These will illuminate the house at night and make the outside look fun and exciting.

How To Display Your Posters

Posters come in different designs and sizes. Displaying trendy and stylish posters is one of the fastest ways to make the wall appear fun and exciting. When this work of art is displayed properly, it can help you create a memorable focal point that will be adored by anyone who sees it. Here are some ideas on displaying posters and creating a compelling wall decoration you will never forget.

Brief introduction of posters

The popularity of posters started in the late 1700s. Since then, many companies and groups have changed their ways of promoting their products, services, and events. Jules Cheret has changed the concept of posters, which many have adopted. From an advertising medium, posters were then used as an art form. Artistically designed posters need not be hidden in the storage. They must be displayed to decorate any plain and simple-looking walls.

Simple tips to display your trendy poster art

Posters can be displayed in different ways. For instance, large posters that feature landscapes, city skylines, architectural designs, and scenic landscapes can be displayed in the living room or the foyer. These can be displayed by lightly marking the corners with a pencil and covering the back of the poster with a decoupage. Any bubbles can easily be removed with cloth.

Many homeowners display posters using tacks, double-sided tape, or poster gum. While these methods may attract the public, it is also recommended that posters be mounted before being displayed on the walls to make them look more appealing and presentable.

Here are simple steps to follow to mount your posters:

Tools needed:

Acid-free foam core, a few inches larger than the poster

Spray adhesive

Iron

Thin strips of wooden molding

Hand saw

Utility knife

Straightedge

Eye screws and picture hanging wire

Easy steps to follow:

  1. Spread old newspapers on the floor or any flat surface and lay out the foam core and poster. Spray the foam core with adhesive and firmly press the poster on the foam core.
  2. Remove the excess foam core using a straightedge and utility knife.
  3. Attach a cradle that will stabilize the mounted poster in either direction. You can use thin wooden trim or moldings to do this.
  4. Allow the mounted poster to dry, and create pilot holes in the molding behind the poster using tacks or nails. These holes will be where the screws will be attached.
  5. Attach a loop of wire before hanging the mounted poster.

There are also available DIY kits that will help you mount your posters. These kits are complete with frames, acrylic glass, screws, and other materials needed for mounting.

Displaying the poster

There are no strict rules regarding where posters need to be displayed. You can generally display them on any wall where decorations are needed. If you are new to the room or space, there are many areas where you can hang your poster art.

Mounted posters are not only functional. They can also create attractive wall art and help you set the right atmosphere for your home.

Posters and Pop Art

Pop Art is one of the art movements that has taken the art and design industries by storm. It is a popular design that is used for many purposes. Many people adore Pop Art due to its unconventional approach. However different and unique the art is, the style has captivated the interests and hearts of many design enthusiasts.

The Movement

Pop art is a movement that started in the United States and the United Kingdom. In the 1950s, it challenged traditional styles by creating art that included popular and mass culture images. The movement revolutionized the appearance and content of magazines, books, advertising, and others.

One of the movement’s main goals is to create art that uses images of popular culture. Artists usually employ mechanical reproduction, and the materials are sometimes visually removed and replaced with unique materials. Due to the use of objects and images, the art is often compared with abstract art.

Many works of art inspired by the movement are used in advertisements. Examples are the labels of Campbell’s Soup Cans by Andy Warhol, Drowning Girl by Roy Lichtenstein, Bed by Robert Rauschenberg, President-Elect by James Rosenquist, and Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol.

How it all started

In 1952, a group of artists in London held a gathering to discuss various topics in art. The group is called the Independent Group, which is led by popular artists like Richard Hamilton, Eduardo Paolozzi, Lawrence Alloway, and Reyner Banham. They discussed mass culture’s place in fine art, science, and technology.

It was the time when the UK was still developing from the atrocities of World War 2, and people were still not open to the popular culture of the United States. The British were enthusiastic about the future of popular culture in the country and were looking forward to the art to influence science fiction, movies, comic books, music, and mobile designs.

During the mid-1950s, different artists and their respective movements influenced the American art community, such as Neo-Dada, Funk Art, Lettrism, Beat Art, and Polymaterialism. The art focused on including concepts instead of sticking to traditional methods. As a result, non-art materials were used, resulting in artworks that express pop culture. The artists who made an impression during that period were Robert Rauschenberg, Ray Johnson, and Jasper Johns.

During the 1960s, more artists became popular in New York and Los Angeles exhibitions. Many used screen printing to create art instead of conventional painting methods. Then, the United States economy also grew simultaneously with music, science, and technology.

Pop Art and Trendy Posters

Many poster designs have been inspired by the Pop Art movement. The public loves these designs because of their extraordinary color combinations and dynamic designs. Artists used simple objects to create remarkable art, which even amazed non-art enthusiasts around the globe.

However, several artists and individuals do not accept the concept of pop art. The art opens the public to new techniques and ideas on how to express themselves in the form of art. Simple everyday objects like soda bottles, cans of mushroom soup, and bottle crates. Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley were commonly portrayed in the posters along with different brands of consumer products.

Displaying poster art is a trend in wall decoration. Pop Art-inspired posters can instantly create a lively vibe, creating a fun and exciting room environment. In addition to being trendy and stylish, posters are more affordable than traditional paintings.
