Summer or dry season in the Philippines is just around the corner and it is time to prepare your home for one of the most-awaited seasons of the year. Here are some preparation tips that will make your home look cool and awesome during summer.

Clean the walkway

By this time, the walkway may be filled with dust and clutter from the previous events and celebrations. Wash the walkway then replace damaged pavers or bricks. For concrete walkways, fill in cracks with a masonry crack filler that blends with the color of the concrete.

Clean windows and screens

Fill in any gaps in the frames and check if the mechanics are working. Have them fixed if you see any defect or damage. Wash windows with a vinegar-ammonia solution first then with water. Dry the windows with a squeegee.

Inspect the roof

A quick inspection of the roof, as well as the exterior of your home, may reveal some damages that have been brought about by the rainy season. Hae them repaired immediately before the damage worsens. Check for misalignments, cracks, or missing parts. These can easily let water in during the rainy season. Also, check for rust as well as the pipes or skylights to be sure that they are free from any cracks or any other damages.

Inspect the exterior paint job

Over the years, the paint of the house exterior may already have worn off. Note, repainting your home is quite challenging and may require manpower and time to accomplish your paint job. You also need to choose the right color that will personalize your home.

Clear out the gutters

Clean leaves and other debris from the gutters. Check the gutters for leaks or breaks during the next rain.

Clean and recoat outdoor furniture

Clean off furniture pieces that are in the storage. Inspect its parts and replace any pieces that may be missing. Repairing them may be cheaper than buying new ones.

Reinforce fence posts

Replace any rotten pickets or posts. Check them again and make sure that they are sturdy in the ground.

Decorate the walls of your home

Bring the summer vibe to your home by decorating the walls of your home. There are many ways and decors that can transform the overall appearance of your walls. One of the easiest ways is to display personalized framed posters. There are many themes and designs available and choosing the right one will help you achieve the appearance that you like.

The Beauty Of Personalized Art In Your Home

A home that has a welcoming atmosphere is usually seen with art in every room. However, choosing the right art is a challenge to many homeowners. There are many factors to consider when choosing art, and questions as well. Examples are the colors, theme, patterns, and others. These have great effects on the overall appearance of any living space. It is therefore important to choose the art according to the preference of the homeowner or designer. Sometimes, the perfect art is not out there! This is when personalized art comes to play. There are also many reasons why personalized art is preferred by many people rather than traditional ones.

Why add art to your home

Art is not cheap. We all know that. The question is, why buy the original when you can get a poster that can also give the same impact. Displaying artwork in your home helps you stand out from any ordinary home. Art adds character that cannot be seen with other home decorations. By rule of thumb, you should hang pieces that mean something to you. There are different themes to choose from that are appropriate to every room.

When it comes to health, there’s a mental health benefit that can be enjoyed from the display of artwork. For instance, having a landscape image displayed in the living room can give you a scene to look at when you need to relax at the end of the day.

Hanging artwork can also have the benefit to your resale value. A placed artwork can better communicate a story to a prospective buyer. The artwork can create a deep connection and can bring a sense of class to a home.

Why choose personalized art

Personalized artwork lets your personality shine. The art cannot be easily bought from any store. Having personalized art means that you have to work with the artist in creating artwork that actually has meaning to you. This type of art strongly represents who and what you are. Just like the personalized framed poster given to some friends of Artdesign, such as Heart and Chiz Escudero, and Randy Santiago.

It is common to display art or create wall art about your likings and interests. For instance, if you are into sports, the art that you display is sports-related, like the image of your favorite athlete, sport, and recent sporting events.

Moreover, personalized art can initiate a conversation with your guests. Imagine inviting some friends and colleagues over to your home for a barbecue or cocktail party. Seeing art that is not common can be a conversation starter among them.

Just like in any other art, personalized art can also have a theme. You may ask the artist to add or lessen some elements such as colors, hues, shade, size, and others. These depend of course on your preferences. Another good thing about personalized art is that it can be displayed in any room. In the bedroom, for instance, the art can be the focal point of the room that will likewise give the room a unique and remarkable transformation.

A Touch Of Nature With Ohara Koson

Two Peacocks on Tree Branch poster in interior

Ohara Koson is one of the popular printmakers for kacho-e in the 20th century. Kacho-e is the Japanese term for prints of birds and flowers. A well-known painter and woodblock print designer, he was able to create around 500 prints.

A brief biography of the artist

Ohara Koson was born in 1877 in Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture in the North of Japan. He was originally called Ohara Matao and studied Japanese painting under Suzuki Koson. In 1904, he made Russo-Japanese war prints. However, during these times the popularity of the art of ukiyo-e is slowly dwindling. In contrast with the prints with scenes of the Sino-Japanese War, these were sold out within the day. 10 years, later, fans of the art became less and were eventually replaced by photography.

The art of Ohara Koson

Many viewers and fans of Ohara Koson would oftentimes compare the prints of birds and animals with those of watercolor art. The kacho-e of Ohara Koson was performed with expertise and a high degree of craftsmanship. This is observed through the details seen in the bird’s plumage.

Over the years, the artist used different signatures and seals such that the exact dating of his prints is difficult to determine. Many experts believe that the prints were made after 1923, the year after the great earthquake in Japan.

Shin Hanga artists

In addition to being a popular artist, Ohara Koson was also known for being a teacher at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. One of his American colleagues, Ernest Fenellosa, convinced him to make woodblock prints in traditional style. As such, his first flower and bird prints in the tanzaku format were published by Matsuki Heikichi.

In 1926, Ohara Koson continued the design of kacho-e prints and most of these were published by Watanabe Shozaburo. Watanabe was the one who initiated the Shin Hanga movement. Almost all of the prints of Ohara Koson were exported to the USA. This was the time that Japan had lost its sense of traditional values.

Bring the art into your home

Giving your home a touch of nature is one of the best ways to make it look vibrant and refreshing. Framed posters of sceneries are one of the most common ways of achieving the goal. We all know that having a view of nature in our homes offers lots of benefits in terms of the ambiance and health.

Sometimes, having a personalized wall art of nature could boost the overall appearance of the interior. Philippine sceneries are usually displayed to give the interior an ample amount of shades of green. On the other hand, some owners would like to be unique with other nature-inspired art. The art of Ohara Koson is old in terms of the age of the art. However, they evoke a modern touch that is perfect with any interior design style. In fact, your home does not need to have that Asian look so that you can display the art of Koson.

The hues and shades seen in the images are rather subtle and will not overwhelm the style that your home has. Moreover, they can be displayed in any room, from the bedroom to the kitchen. If you are looking for a cool way to spruce up your room, then the art of Ohara Koson will give the look that will make your decorating project a success.
